Master Shifu

Description of Character

Master Shifu is a small but strong, quick and strict kung fu master who eventually fills Master Oogway’s shoes as primary guardian of the Valley of Peace. Shifu is one of the greatest kung fu warriors in the world. He also plays a mean bamboo-flute solo.

Shifu is older and more powerful than the members of the Furious Five. And he spends many years training them for greatness before being forced to train the seemingly hopeless Po, aka the Dragon Warrior. Shifu doesn’t believe in Po and tries to get him to give up hope. But Po perseveres and eventually proves himself worthy to Shifu.

Shifu is haunted by memories of taking in and training the young orphan Tai Lung. Shifu couldn’t see the evil in Tai Lung until the young student eventually turned on him and attacked the Valley of Peace after being denied the Dragon Scroll by Master Oogway. Tai Lung is imprisoned for this and when he later escapes, Shifu fights him off until Po comes to the rescue. Po defeats Tai Lung and Shifu is finally at peace. But definitely not dead.
