Master Oogway

Description of Character

Master Oogway is the wise and mystical turtle known for unraveling the mysteries of harmony and focus. He lives in the Jade Palace. And while he may have created kung fu and trained the intimidating Master Shifu, Oogway always appears to be calm and relaxed. He’s clearly very old and he has helped guide and protect the Valley of Peace for centuries. At one point that involved being the one to tell Tai Lung he wasn’t the Dragon Warrior due to all the darkness in his heart. Tai Lung responded by lashing out against the Valley of Peace.

It was Oogway who stopped this rampage by hitting Tai Lung with paralyzing nerve strikes. And it’s Oogway who warns of Tai Lung’s return 20 years later. Oogway also has the honor of declaring Po the panda the Dragon Warrior. He’s just as surprised as everyone else, but unlike everyone else, Oogway doesn’t doubt that it’s the right decision. He’s been known to say, “There are no accidents,” among other inspiring quotes. Just before Tai Lung’s return, Oogway says farewell and floats away to the afterlife.
